The Lobster Shack

"The Lobster Shack is a little known place where we can get togetheeeeeer. Lobster Baaaaabyyyyy. Lobster... Lobster Shaaaack!"

I promise not to start all my posts with made up songs, but I just thought I would let you know what I subjected my poor husband, sister and brother-in- law too all the way home from dinner on Saturday night.

When the four of us have dinner together it's always fun and we've had some mighty fine meals together (one day I'll tell you about our meal at J. Baker's in York), but this dinner was one to remember. I'll ignore the fact that when my sister suggested going to the "Lobster Shack" she neglected to mention that the word "Shack" wasn't just a cutesy name, but was intended to be far more literal and would mean us eating outside... which in Scotland in July isn't always the warmest thing to do! This place was awesome. Truly awesome.

Lets take the location to start with. North Berwick is a lovely, bustling wee seaside town about 45 minutes outside of Edinburgh. The Lobster Shack is situated right down at the dock, with a view that looks like this...

And then there's the food. Oh my goodness, the food. OK, so I have always loved Lobster (not that I get the pleasure of eating it very often), but Lobster caught that very morning, grilled to order, accompanied with beautiful garlic butter and truly scrummy chips and served in the sea air? Perfection. Think I'm exaggerating? Take a look for yourself...

It being fully licensed too is a bit of a treat- and their drinks menu is almost as luxurious as their food! Glass of champagne to wash that down, anyone? If Lobster isn't your thing (weirdo), then never fear as you also have mussels, crab, langoustines, breaded fish and a whole host of mouth watering specials to consider.

Truly one of the best meals of my life. Thank you, Lobster Shack!
